The plastic polyamide 6 (PA 6) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that is mainly used in vehicle technology and automotive engineering. Polyamide 6 has a high temperature resistance. Thanks to their good mechanical properties, printed components made of PA 6 are fully functional, temperature stable and resistant to mechanical wear and chemicals such as power and lubricating greases.
New at FKM: PA 613 in 3D printing
To offer even better component quality, we have now replaced the classic PA 6 plastic powder with a further development that combines the best properties of PA 6 and PA 12: Components made of the new material PA 613 are more mechanically stable and offer increased resistance to chemicals and moisture compared to parts made of PA 6 and PA 12. Their melting temperature is also higher, which has a positive effect on their fire protection properties, especially for interior components in the automotive sector.
Fields of application of 3D printing PA 613
PA 613 is a good choice for the production of functional prototypes with high strength and rigidity. The material is also an outstanding choice for ready-to-install components in the automotive, aerospace and medical industries. It is additionally suitable for the production of tools such as moulds and inserts.
PA 613 is a thermoplastic polyamide powder that we are now using in a completely new way in SLS technology. The material is a further development of PA 12 and is characterised by its higher strength, rigidity and chemical resistance. PA 613 is resistant to moisture and chemicals such as acids, alkalis and solvents and retains its shape and dimensions even at higher temperatures. Due to its excellent properties, PA 613 is a promising option for demanding applications in additive manufacturing.
