3D printing PA 11 / polyamide 11

Nylon

SLS PA 11: a sustainable replacement for ABS and PA 6

The high-performance plastic polyamide 11 (SLS PA 11) is also known as nylon. It is made from fully renewable castor beans. SLS PA 11 is chemically and mechanically heat resistant and, due to its durability, ideally suited for highly technical applications. Materials of this class developed for the SLS printing process are a high-performance, impact-resistant alternative to the plastics ABS or PA 6.3D, which have proven themselves in injection moulding. 3D printing with PA 11 results in additively manufactured end products that are just as strong, flexible and durable as injection mouldings.

Which 3D printing PA 11 variants are available?
We process two variants of the bioplastic polyamide 11. PA 1101 is white and can be easily dyed to create your desired colour. The mass-dyed polyamide powder PA 1102 black is ideal for visible components subject to high stress.

Fields of application of SLS PA 11
The PA 11 powder is used for the 3D printing of plastic components in various industries, both for prototype construction and for series products. A common field of application is the automotive industry. Polyamide 11 is ideal for the production of functional elements that require high material toughness (e.g. integral hinges) and/or impact resistance. Components that do not allow chipping (e.g. in vehicle interiors) are therefore among the typical fields of application of PA 11.

PA 1101

Biobased SLS PA 11 powder in white

The white, slightly translucent, additively manufactured components made of the material SLS PA 11 are characterised by their high impact strength and elongation at break. They do not splinter, even under the highest mechanical stress. Compared to PA 12, they have a higher temperature resistance and almost constant mechanical properties over a wide temperature range.

SLS PA 11 is a biobased material (castor oil) and has a lower CO2 footprint than petroleum-based polymers. Subsequent dyeing of the white material is possible without any problems.

PA 1102 black

Low-CO2 SLS PA 11 powder in black

Components made of the mass-dyed SLS PA 11 powder are black throughout and are therefore particularly suitable for visible parts subject to abrasive stress. They additionally boast high impact strength and elongation at break and do not splinter, even under the highest mechanical stress. Compared to PA 12, they are significantly more temperature-resistant and have almost constant mechanical properties over a wide temperature range.

100% bewährte Qualität und 0% CO2
The material PA 1102 black is based on renewable raw materials (castor oil). Due to the colour of the mass, SLS PA 11 black is also ideal for abrasively stressed and manually manipulated visible components.
