3D printing cobalt chrome

CoCrW

3D printing cobalt chrome:
The dental material

Cobalt-chromium alloys are among the most resilient and resistant materials available. They were originally developed for aircraft construction, especially for engines. With their very high strength, toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, they can withstand the enormous stresses and high temperatures involved in flying. They also offer outstanding biocompatibility.

Which 3D printing cobalt chrome for additive manufacturing?
Various 3D printing cobalt-chromium alloys are available for different requirements. In order to meet the high requirements for 3D-printed products in the dental sector, we work with the 3D-printing cobalt-chromium alloy CoCrW, which is specially approved for the dental sector.

How 3D printing cobalt chrome CoCrW
The CoCrW alloy in powder form consists of 60.5% cobalt, 28% chromium, 9% tungsten and 1.5% silicon. It is free of nickel, beryllium and gallium. Due to its high strength, 3D printed cobalt chromium CoCrW is difficult to machine using cutting processes. In additive manufacturing, CoCrW is an ideal alternative for the fast and economical production of high-precision, high-quality parts made from cobalt chromium.

Advantages of 3D printing cobalt chrome CoCrW

  • Very easy to work with
  • Carbon free
  • Biocompatible
  • High density
  • High corrosion resistance
  • Ideal for medicine and dentistry

Fields of application for 3D printing Cobalt chromium CoCrW:
The cobalt chromium alloy CoCrW is primarily used in dentistry for the production of patient-specific dental prostheses. Crowns, bridges, frameworks for metal-ceramic veneers and combined dentures can be produced quickly, accurately and cost-effectively using 3D printing.
