SLS PA 11: Sustainable replacement for ABS and PA 6

The high-performance plastic polyamide 11 (SLS PA 11) is also known as nylon. It is made from 100 percent renewable castor bean seeds. SLS PA 11 is chemically and mechanically heat-resistant and, thanks to its durability, is ideal for highly technical applications. Materials of this class developed for the SLS printing process are a high-performance, impact-resistant alternative to the plastics ABS or PA 6, which have proven themselves in injection molding. 3D printing with PA 11 results in additively manufactured end products that are just as strong, flexible and durable as injection molded parts.

Which 3D printing PA 11 variants are available?
We process two variants of the bioplastic polyamide 11. PA 1101 is white and can easily be dyed in a desired color. The mass-dyed polyamide powder PA 1102 black is ideal for highly stressed visible components.

Advantages of SLS PA 11

  • Very high flexibility
  • High impact strength
  • Constant long-term behavior
  • Excellent chemical resistance, especially to hydrocarbons
  • High temperature resistance
  • small CO2 footprint

Areas of application for SLS PA 11
PA 11 powder is used for the 3D printing of plastic components in various industries, both for prototype construction and for series products. One common field of application is the automotive industry. Polyamide 11 is ideal for the production of functional elements that require high material toughness (e.g. film hinges) and/or impact resistance. Therefore, components that do not allow splintering (e.g. in vehicle interiors) are among the typical areas of application.
